Intro
Easily customize your Motivote portal to align with brand and programming goals. Use this guide to brainstorm and then edit customizable aspects on the Home Page. Looking for inspiration? Check out examples for branding and content.
Visual Customizations
The goals of visual customization is for users to recognize your dashboard and fit with your broader brand. You can select up to two accent colors for buttons, icons, etc. as well as custom designs for: Main Logo, Dashboard and Flex Block.
Main Logo Design
This is an image field that appears in the top left of your dashboard Home tab. The image will appear for your users on all pages of your dashboard.
Dimensions
Use any high-quality image with a circular shape. There are no specific dimension requirements for this element.
Edit Main Logo Description
When logged into the Admin Portal, go to the Teams tab.
Find the name of your dashboard's Root team. (Hint: the Parent column is empty.)
Open the Edit view for your Root Team. This is an aqua button with a pencil icon.
Edit the image field called, Team Image. If you already have an image file uploaded, adding a new file will override it.
Click Save to publish your changes. It will update automatically to users.
Backsplash Design
The ‘backsplash’ is a horizontal design at the top of the dashboard. It's similar to the image added to Facebook or LinkedIn profiles.
Dimensions
This element is dynamic rather than fixed. Due being a mobile-responsive platform, the image appears "flatter" on Mobile versus Desktop. This block has a fixed max. height of 213px on Desktop and 80px on Mobile. Width can be from 667px to 975px max.
For this reason, we recommend a visual design rather than text, which could get cut off at the edges. If you want to include text, keep it centered and away from the edges.

Home Page Description
This is a text field that appears in the top left of your dashboard Home tab. Use this field to provide a brief overview of your program and what to expect on the platform.
About This Element
Users who see this field are already signed up for Motivote. There is a separate text field viewable by logged out users.
In addition to text content, you can add images, videos or other embeds to this field. You can also use the Flex Box for an image or video.
There is no limit to words/characters in this field. The element will automatically expand in size to fit more content.
The bold-type header is customizable a dashboard-wide setting. Update it through your Admin Portal: Dashboard / Content / Home Page Description Title"
Content Guidelines
Brief overview of the program, mission, and connection to organizational goals
Answer “who is behind this” and contact information for program leaders
Organization-specific information or happenings such as:
On-campus polling locations or ballot drop-boxes
Locations to find supplies like voter registration forms, envelopes or stamps
Details about upcoming events and links to learn more
Information about competitions and rewards

Edit Home Page Description

Edit the field called Team Description, which is the topmost text field. Use the small icon in the top right of the text field to reveal markup tools to edit text format and to add images or embedded content.
Click Save to publish your changes. It will update automatically to users.
Flex Block
This is a text field that appears under the Home Description field.
Use this field to feature your choice of: text, images, GIFs, video, featured actions, or featured "I Voted" selfies.
If you choose an image, it can be either a promotional image that stays consistent during your initiative or an event/competition-focused image that you change out. Flex block content can be edited at any time and will update immediately for users.
Partners will often use the Flex Block image to highlight their overall team competition or grand prize. You can also highlight upcoming events and opportunities.
Edit Flex Block
Edit the Flex Block directly from the Admin Portal or we'll manage it for you. Contact partners@motivote.us with your request.
When logged into the Admin Portal, go to the Dashboards tab.
Open the Edit view for your Dashboard. This is an aqua button with a pencil icon.
Navigate to the Home Page section and click open Flex Block.
Click Save to publish your changes. It will update automatically to users.
Use the green Add button to set up the Flex Block for the first time.
Select preferred content type from the drop down menu, then save
Use the aqua Edit button to change the saved file or content type.
